Lucidnote is written by Lucid, a backend and infrastructure engineer with fifteen years in the field.

I started in systems integration, writing shared frameworks and leading small teams, then worked through telecom, public sector, e-commerce, education, and media. The domains had little in common. The problems mostly did.

For the last few years I have been the only engineer on the products I build. The app, the API, the servers under it, the model calls on top. Doing all of it changes what you pay attention to. You start disliking anything that will need you personally at an inconvenient hour.

The work these notes come from is mostly unglamorous. Moving a running backend off three language stacks onto one without taking it down. Scheduling jobs across GPUs that do not share hardware or failure modes. Getting a managed service out of the request path, where it had been put for convenience and then stayed for years. Building the console instead of doing the operation by hand, again.

The most recent build is a real-time interpretation service for a medical specialty where general translators get the terminology wrong often enough to be a problem. The pipeline looks terms up in a curated glossary before it translates anything.

The articles here come out of that work. They tend to be about the thing that broke, or the decision that was harder than it looked.
